My favorite professor (it was an upper-grad bacteriology class at UC Davis) was fond of exam questions that required what he called synthetic thinking. He had taught us the pieces needed to answer the question, we just had to figure out how the pieces fit together.

This is one of the reasons I liked your classes the most, and most of my other classes in IR/Poli Sci at Iowa for that matter. I felt like you did a great job with this. My gen eds were the worst at this. Absolutely felt professors' political agendas shoved done my throat.

Thanks! I'm really pleased to hear that was your experience. Making my courses open to a variety of political viewpoints and introducing students to a variety of perspectives is a priority for me.
