Foster kids weren’t separated by the US government to punish their parents for a misdemeanor and deter others. Unaccompanied kids at the border weren’t either. Equating the forced separation policy to those two says more about you—and cognitive dissonance—than about the policy.

I grew up in foster care and then fostered myself. I find it disgusting that anyone would use it as an argument to justify their defense of this admin ripping children away from their parents as punishment for seeking asylum or crossing the border.

I certainly hope that CPS takes a 2nd look at any foster parents that are doing so, bc knowing the trauma that separation from a parent can cause a child & STILL believing it should be done anyway for punishment, shows what a truly horrific excuse for a human being that person is

And that type of person has no business being around children AT ALL!

Let’s also not forget that most states would close down any foster “home” or children’s shelter that looks anything even remotely similar to the pictures of these children’s detention centers. The comparison is really between apples and celery. Not apples and bananas.
