This is great. A bipartisan Senate bill to rein in the president's abuse of the national security exemption for tariffs. Look at that list. Rs and Ds, including some from states suffering under retaliatory tariffs. Deserves veto-proof support. We'll see.https://twitter.com/eschor/status/1004443980686348289 …

Best argument for "national security" tariffs against Canada and Mexico is it improves US negotiating position. But that highlights why it's a such bad idea: Potential economic gains minimal, potential geopolitical losses high.

Trade war with Canada and Mexico such short-sighted thinking. US gains much more from close, long-term partnerships with neighbors than bullying them into making a few economic concessions. And that’s if it works! Right now, just losses for all three countries.

North America is deteriorating. Trump’s verbal attacks on Mexico, US withdrawing from TPP, now tariffs. First big post-Trump Mexican election July 1. This’ll get worse before it gets better.

Does Trump or someone have information that could be damaging to certain GOP congressman or to the GOP as a whole?...Hmmm.... Russian money?... Money laundering? These pompous dotards must assume that "We the People" are stupid! They are going to learn that they are very wrong!
