Agree. But OTHO, Trump Admin has already conceded or expressed openness to concede a lot in return for nothing. And Trump wants a win more than he wants real policy. Pushing hard now could push negotiators to do more than just placate Trump's hollow concerns.
Bad move, Democrats. This is basically what Congressional Republicans did during Iran deal negotiations: Set an impossible standard, vow to block anything that falls short Grandstanding for domestic audience. I've criticized the administration for all that too. But Democrats declaring an impossibly high standard undercuts any US position, rather than strengthens it. Effectively communicates to North Korea that the US cannot to be trusted,

Oh I agree entirely. But the electorate already weakened US position and destroyed credibility when it voted Trump into office. Now it's just a matter of choosing the least shitty option. And that depends on one's view of how much of a danger a Trump deal could be.

I'm not really disagreeing with you. I agree with your concerns. I'm just sorta shrugging my shoulders because I'm not convinced there are any options that are much less shitty.
