He never lived up to expectations after his 2011 season. It was a mix of injuries, lack of effort, and plain ineffectiveness. I’m sad to see him go but this was a necessary move. I’m glad Gettleman has some balls, unlike a certain recent Giants GM
-
8.5 in 2017 / 7 in 2016 is ineffectiveness, wow I must have had a bad wrap for the word production when it came to DE's.. Mack had 10.5 and no one bats an eye for it, but alright.
-
Sigh. 6 of his 7 sacks in 2016 came against the Bears and Browns. Also, you omitted a four year chunk between 2011 and 2016. 2012, 2013, and 2015 were extremely disappointing. He also takes way too many plays, and sometimes entire games, off.
-
Still got 8.5 sacks in 2017, even if that's the case for 2016. 2012 he had 6.5, 2013 injured, 2015 injured. When he's on the field he produces in the fashion of tackles or sacks. For a 3rd rounder + a move up in 4th, it's great for the Bucs, giants lost 15M in dead space, sucks.
-
He also played a disproportionate amount of snaps. Unless you guys plan to work him to the ground, he's not gonna produce like that. The dead space is all 1 year, and it frees up 19.5 million in 2019 for OBJ and Landon Collins.
-
Bucs are going to run him into the ground, OBJ is going to be a problem with his contract if that's the case. $15M In dead cap space just from this move alone, bad GM choices will be the down fall, rumors are that OBJ might not get his next contract from the Giants at this rate.
-
"Bucs are going to run him into the ground" have fun with that. "OBJ is going to be a problem with his contract if that's the case." Why? "$15M In dead cap space just from this move alone" for 2018 and that's it. We get 19.5 mil in cap 2019.
-
Giants free up less than 3M in cap space with this move, you ask why for when you know OBJ will demand at least AB money at the least, and wants low 20's, which is what they'll have to pay more than likely. Bucs will have fun with that for sure, believe me. Giant's are a mess atm

Gotta hand it to them. About time both teams made a move.

I’m so glad the Giants were able to get rid of him and save cap space.pic.twitter.com/zYSGvyq4fK

Wish he was traded to the chargers, would have loved to see him play at the StubHub center.

Buccaneers got fleeced.
-
A 3rd round pick for JPP is getting fleeced? No to mention they swapped 4th rounders so Bucs moved up in the 4th. You don't know.
-
They got rid of their worst contract and freed up 19.5 million in cap next year. He's not producing at the level of his contract. Have fun with 1-2 sacks a year.
