CHIEFS will be the seventh!

Given that they play this Saturday on “wildcard weekend”, and that they did not receive a bye, and are in a wild card game.... yes. Yes the Chiefs are a wild card. :-)
-
I think the confusion is between a wildcard and a division winner
-
Yes likely. To be fair, I do think the NFL does only term 2 teams from each conference as “Wild Card” and doesn’t refer to the 2 lower seeded divisions winners as “Wild Card” seeds. I’ll give it to you.....

-
For my part (and incorrectly I know, just the way my mind works) I’ve always referred to the non bye teams as wild card teams. But I understand for the purposes of this tweet, NFL is referring to just 6th or 7th seeds, true Wild Card teams.

I actually remember these. These were the days when players didn't disrespect our flag, country, military and police. Unfortunately, most will not be watching this year.
@NFL and@nflcommish don't have enough sense to make the entitled babies stand.#BoycottTheNFL - 1 more reply

They forgot about the 2012 Baltimore Ravens
-
And the 2007 Colts, and the 2011 Giants,
-
Were those division winners?
-
All of them
-
But they are still wild cards
-
I think the claim the nfl is making is that there are only six times in history a 5 or 6 seed won the Super Bowl. And they are calling those seeds a “wild card” or a non division winner
-
Ohhh ok
