I understand that this particular methodology relies on sensitivity but is there a reason why we seem to be paying very little attention to specificity of tests?

Suspect specificity is property of PCR test post sample collection phase which is identical in both methods (and very high), while sensitivity is very dependent on physically collecting enough viral RNA which theoretically depends on where in body sample is collected from.

According to the article saliva samples show more accurate results (less false negative), it’s easier to take the sample and probably it’s cheaper, Moreover we can take the sample ourselves using a kit and send it to the lab.

Did I read this wrong? They screen Covid19 inpatients, and compared to Nasal swab samples got higher sensitivity. Then they screen health workers to screen for possible asymptomatic and got 13 positive where only 2 were confirmed with nasal swab samples?
