Wait, I see pro Trump content on there everyday. Besides the app taking your time up. What could the Chinese possibly do with me watching dog videos, cop videos, people doing jokes. Wow they know where I go, visiting my family is not government secrets.

Yeah I don’t know about it pushing a left wing agenda but all apps collect data on their users or at least try to. It’s not really a huge deal but it does become a national security issue if the app is sending information from say the child of a DOD official directly to China gov

Okay, for one who is going to admit their family works for the DOD and why do it on Social Media. If they are watching you because your family works there, then chances are, they already know your family works there. But hey, what would I know. Most phones are made in China tho.

I’m pretty sure Chinese intelligence knows information on DOD or high security clearance individuals in US gov, including their family members. No one has to admit it on an app for them to know who to look for.

So what do they have to gain? Location information for one is easy and they don't need an app for that. They made the phones, are they going to ban Apple and Samsung phones next? Don't get me wrong, I see the harm the app could do, but this is a little over the top.

The phones aren’t assembled in China. Just the parts are made there. I agree it’s odd to ban a product entirely from the US public since most people aren’t at risk of giving away anything more than consumer data, but I understand the hesitation to allow the app here

Samsung phones are manufactured and assembled in Vietnam, Korea and two other countries. Iphones as well, but they are mostly Made and Assembled in China, preloaded with firmware and basic apps before boxed up and sent to the world.

To be honest, the entire thing is just an easy way for Trump to be able to say he was tough on China. He wouldn’t go after his old buddy Tim Apple, so the path of least resistance is Tik Tok. I’m just saying I understand why there should be discussion about it.

Why does it have to be a Trump thing why not a Biden thing? Last I heard Biden was in bed with the Chinese. I mean first it’s the Russia collusion and now it’s the Chinese potential spying and election tampering. Can we please stop complaining.

Because his administration is the one trying to ban it...

The only reference I see is from the Secretary of State that is making any talk about it. Even in his statement he says, he doesn't want to get out in front of the President but its something they are looking into. Sounds about right for a former CIA Director.
