They took down the Hitler statues in Germany, we all still know about him. These are serving as monuments to glorify them, not warnings of the past.
They took down hitler in their country, we still know about him because he is in the books, on tv and remembered by dates on a calendar. Those other statues are for the areas, hell I didn’t know about the guy until ABC11 posted the article.

Then we should have better education about these people in books instead of upholding monuments

We only remember those who have had an impact to our way of life as if is today. Also placing history in books is a great way, but look at other nations at how they ban/outlaw reading or creation of books. History can be easily rewritten. But removing public items is harder.
