You are a web developer. You get handed a design for a Website™ For simplicity's sake, let's say it's a one-pager with all the trimmings (nav, footer, menu, content, a form, etc) What are the first three things you do?

I wouldn’t claim being a web developer if I’m running to Twitter for advice. Sorry just being honest about it.

Are you a web developer, though? Because it's what we do.

Never claimed to be, but I do know several and honestly asking project advice is not what they do. Now to solve a problem they usually have a team of folks that help them but for business purposes I would never reach onto social media for help. Customers tend to back out then.

@elibelly’s not asking for help. They’re asking because they’re interested in how other developers would approach a simple, commonly encountered problem. At least that’s my read of the situation.

Wait not asking for advice but asking others on how they would approach it. Sounds like someone doesn’t know what they’re doing and should not be offering services to others.

Sometimes when people ask a question, especially about a technical or industry thing is just to start a conversation with peers for fun! I like that people like to share and discover when they have similarities to others. Do you like to share? What are your three things? 😊

      1. Collaborate with an in house team. 2. Keep business projects off social media. 3. I can’t think of a third reason. If I’m getting paid to do a job, the last thing I don’t want is a client thinking I’m not capable to do a task I sold to them.

Cool so I assume you're a contractor/freelancer/agency of some sort? That sound like it requires a lot hustle. Do you think your approach would change if it were for an in-house team rather than a client?

My approach would change if I’m asking a team in house. But asking those on social media is something I personally would never do because it takes professionalism out of the question.
