State Senate wasn't on the ballot in MN this year (middle of four-year term) except one special election due to promotion of Michelle Fischbach to Lt. Gov. after Gov. Dayton appointed Tina Smith to vacant U.S. Senate seat. Broke a 33-33 tie, but it was in a fairly red district.

Not true. Alaska's House Majority consists of 15 Democrats, seven Republicans and two Independents, one of whom is the Speaker of the House, Bryce Edgmon, who's been a Democrat all his life but switched to Independent so he could lead this unique multipartisan coalition.
