It's true, the Guardian reported in 2001 that the Taliban simply wanted evidence of any kind that bin Laden was involved. The Bush administration refused to give them anything. That article is easy to find. I remember gung-ho war mode because U.S. boys would finally be winners.

The FBI agrees with Taliban, bin Laden was not listed as wanted for 9/11. It was for other crimes. The FBI said they did not see proof of bin Laden involvement.
