All the laws in the world will not stop a person from obtaining a gun if they want one. Laws could not stop booze, they cannot stop drugs, will not be able to stop guns

In Japan, to own a shotgun, a person must pass rigorous safety training. Then they must build a lockdown cabinet to strict specifications and a state policeperson must come and inspect the cabinet before a permit can be issued. That's the kind of gun control we need here.

It doesn't surprise me that the notion of common sense might be difficult for you. To be less flippant, it means legislation that the vast majority would agree makes sense—like not allowing high-capacity magazines or requiring a waiting period on all gun purchases.
