And if there is no support system b/c there's no family or they don't live nearby? If the parent taking a day off work leads to losing their job? Schools have become warehouses so businesses can keep operating.

It looks like one health official has never met people
-
ONE? Pretty clear that school-based "health official" has never had children.

"Never in a million years did we think to ask literally any teacher what the reality of school is like."

We’re trained to keep going even if we’re sick. “Absences can only be excused if...” “Any unexcused absence...” I have had to fight the schools literally every year when I chose not to send my sick kids to class. Even if “it’s different now,” people are conditioned to keep going

I don’t know why you didn’t think it would happen. We’ve had to do it for years because we have to work and childcare is expensive. Most working class people can’t just stay home with a sick child

In high school, I had pneumonia. I was out of school for almost three weeks. My principal hated me and “lost” my doctors note. If my mom hadn’t been a badass and fought for me, he wouldn’t have “found” the drs note and I wouldn’t have passed.
