NASA's James Webb Space Telescope will #UnfoldTheUniverse and show us things we've never seen before.

When this beauty is ready for science, how is it decided who gets time to do their research or proposed objective?
Great question! Every year astronomers from around the world will write up their best ideas in proposals to use the telescope. (1/2) #JWST
Only the best ideas win! It's tough competition. After some time (usually a year) all the data become public & anyone can use it #JWST (2/2)
actually one of the GREAT things a/b telescopes like @NASAHubble & @NASAWebb is that anyone in the world can propose, & use their data #JWST
So a committee of scientists select best proposals to utilize the features of scope to accomplish their research then its scheduling time?
Yep! I've been on both ends of that...the proposer and on the committee deciding on proposals. It's a good process.
Thanks! Will the JWST be subject to motion that constantly has to be adjusted for due to solar winds or is the pressure to small to impact
We actually have a momentum flap that balances the solar pressure on the sunshield, like a trim flap in sailing.
That is cool
thanks alot for the info!
