@exploreplanets Not for testing: that happens later. This is to allow @nasawebbtelescp to be flipped over & then instrument suite installed.
@markmccaughrean @exploreplanets @NASAWebbTelescp "Flipping over" like by 90° ... or by 180°? Now *that* would make for scary views ...
@cosmos4u @markmccaughrean @exploreplanets More like gently rotating. And ultimately will end up 180 degrees so we can install instruments.
@nasawebbtelescp @cosmos4u @exploreplanets Indeed "flip" does have a rather rapid sense about it. But good to know re: the 180 degrees: thx.
@markmccaughrean I believe it will be rotated upright, tested, then around 180, then down. It'll be lifted to assembly stand face down.
@nasawebbtelescp Wow. Sounds like high-board diving routine. Is #JWST going for a gold medal in Rio as well? Already has 25m2 of gold
@markmccaughrean Also, how that rotate it is subject to change - we'll do our best to report as we hear updates! :-)
