There’s no place like our home galaxy…or its supermassive black hole. Sagittarius A* is at the core of the Milky Way (shown in X-ray & radio), surrounded by a disk of gas & dust. Webb may be able to detect that disk & tell us more about galaxy formation: http://go.nasa.gov/3aa8IGR pic.twitter.com/YKV3SqiEgk
Webb will also look to our neighbor galaxy Centaurus A, a warped disk that previously merged with another galaxy. Its active supermassive black hole shoots out jets & winds. Webb will be able to create 2-D maps to learn more about the black hole's impact: http://go.nasa.gov/2P7SHty pic.twitter.com/htjyfTQjpH
Let’s not forget the supermassive black hole at the center of galaxy NGC 4151! Webb will be able to measure the black hole's mass. Find out how: http://go.nasa.gov/2ErzsFp Tell us your favorite thing about black holes below!pic.twitter.com/tmdBALpNX1
