@NASAWebb As this horrible year closes, and hopefully a much better year approaches, I have a burning question about Webb telescope.
How much lead time after 2021 launch is needed until *any* image is likely to be released to public?
Still in 2021, or more likely 2022?

Webb has a long commissioning period, which includes: deployment, travel out to L2, cooling the telescope, and calibrating the mirrors and instruments. Routine science operations will start ~200 days after launch, so expect the first public image before they start.

Thanks so much for responding. I'm so excited for Webb. It feels like I've been waiting my whole life for it (an event as momentous as this, I mean) ;-)
