What does the IR band tell us that visible light cannot?
As an infrared telescope, #NASAWebb needs to stay super cold in order to see faint heat signals in space. 
Being at L2 allows Webb’s giant sunshield to always be between the telescope and the bright Sun, Earth and Moon.
