@NASAWebb Just saw Dr. Smith on UTube. Why not use a ground or space based laser to gently push against the telescope to de-spin the alignment wheels to save fuel
Interesting question. Unfortunately, ground-based laser light would be too spread out by the time it reaches Webb for it to even provide a fraction of the pressure on the sunshield induced by sunlight. We don’t have spacecraft capable of performing the function either. -E. Smith
