@NASAWebb The Hubble telescope has a designed enclosure. The James Webb telescope design has no enclosure it seems. So, is it less protected than Hubble from space junk encounters rendering any damage to delicate equipment portions of it's telescope?
There isn't much space junk where we are going. We'll orbit the Sun a million miles from Earth, rather than orbiting it like Hubble. Micrometeoroids will have negligible effect on the mirrors.
