By gathering data on many galaxies, we can learn about the role that black holes play in how galaxies form and evolve. Read more on that here: https://jwst.nasa.gov/galaxies.html 2/pic.twitter.com/SgVwtMf6Rv

#NASAWebb's infrared studies of black holes will be complementary and will help add further detail to the@ehtelescope's, which observed the black hole in the galaxy M87 using millimeter-wave (or microwave) light. Image credit:@ehtelescope 3/pic.twitter.com/SahsV7No2k

Although M87 is not on the list of early targets that have already been selected for observation by
#NASAWebb, it is a potential choice for later on! We do have 2 planned early observations aimed at studying giant#blackholes at galaxies' centers: http://www.stsci.edu/jwst/observing-programs/approved-ers-programs … 4/pic.twitter.com/lGLJVogrKR

@ehtelescope's historic feat of capturing the first image of a black hole involved an international network of radio telescopes working together as a team, and was supported by observations from NASA telescopes at other wavelengths. NASA has a suite of different telescopes that are capable of studying wide ranges of science, over huge distance scales. It takes all kinds of telescopes in different wavelengths (& messenger signals!) to put together a picture of how the universe works! 6/6pic.twitter.com/5vJ39lffSP

So excited for Webb! Black holes are amazing, but I'm dying to see what results it can get on *everything*!
