The success or failure of this entire endeavour rests in the hands of a foreign nations space program, ESA. I dont like the fact that Ariane 5 is the selected rocket for this national icon. Why not Delta IV or FH? Both sould be able to reach L2. I have a bad feeling about this.

Because Europeans don't know how to do it? Oh and FYI, national Icon? It is being built by three major space agencies. ESA being one of them. They know what they're doing ;)
