If a visible light photo is taken with the JWST, does a simple white balancing correct for the golden tint? Or is some more intense color processing/calibration required?
Our detectors (like Hubble's) produce images in black and white, not color. Data from both telescopes require processing to create the type of imagery you are used to seeing. Such a simple answer! The sensors on JWST are only recording luminosity, not color! But even then, when RGB filters are in front of the B&W camera, wont the gold tinted light just shift the luminosity through the Red and Green filters and not so much Blue? (Gold RGB: 255, 235, 0)
