It is amazing 1970s engineering still working way out there! Will the Voyagers be the only man made machines to achieve interstellar travel? I hope not!

Those days "simple is the best" was the way of working..... Today it is follow the most "optimum" design is the motto. Things work only up to the inch they are funded for.

Why was Voyager 2 called that, even though it launched first?

It was just the order of their conception as missions. Originally they were Mariner 11 and 12.

It all depends on available power but around 2036 is possible. The
