Those boats and crews are not cheap to maintain and operate either

True. But how much does it cost to maintain the fleet and crew? Even if it is 1 million/month it is still less than the fairing and given how frequent launches have gotten, I believe the cost gets amortized. Also, it gives job to people as an added bonus!

Minus 2 crew dragons and 2 cargo dragons, next year SpaceX plans to have 44 launches. If they all used new fairings, that would be a whopping 264 million dollars of hardware... a huge incentive for reuse.
