What's up in the sky tonight? This evening around twilight, look for a bright Venus to the lower right of a waxing crescent Moon.

Happy Lunar New Year! 🐀 🎉 While the Gregorian calendar is solar-based, some cultures base their calendars on both the Sun and the Moon. This new Moon marks a new year for many Asian cultures.

Can we use solar arrays on the Moon for electricity? Will landing a spacecraft affect lunar samples we hope to collect? These are questions we hope to answer by sending these science experiments & technology demos to the Moon under the program.

"Those of us earthbound have Dr. King to look to as a guidepost on our way." - Former NASA Administrator Charlie Bolden in 2012. Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s amazing life and his powerful legacy.

One reason we chose the Moon’s south pole as the destination for our astronauts is that we have a lot of data about the region. This work of art comes from our team. The map shows how steep or shallow slopes are at the south pole.

2019 was the second hottest 🌡 year and the last decade was the warmest decade on record. The global average temperature was more than 2°F warmer than during the late 19th century.

Have you heard about our new lunar robot, VIPER? The VIPER rover will scour the Moon's South Pole, looking for water ice that we've detected from orbit. This is the first landed mission that will specifically look for lunar water💦

We're sending a rover to hunt for water ice on the Moon!💧🌒 A model of our VIPER rover was tested in a soil bin containing simulant to mimic lunar terrain. The mission will help create the first global water resource maps of the Moon. MORE>>
