Will that be the first binary asteroid visited up close? AFAIK they aren't uncommon, but I can't really remember any close-range images of one.

Has anyone tried playing around with the HST images with KLIP or some similar PSF subtraction algorithm? Seems likely to substantially improve the detection.
I've used something very similar to KLIPS in a similar high-contrast satellite dataset (though I've been laboring under the restriction of having no good model of the instrumental PSF). It delivers a huge improvement over direct (simpler?) PSF subtraction approaches, for sure.
