Who said that pulsars cannot be that far form our home galaxy? The pulsar has been located in the NGC 5907 known as Knife Edge Galaxy.

This is a spiral galaxy also known as Splinter Galaxy located in the constellation Draco. It's a member of the 5866 group galactic cluster.

The pulsar is named NGC 5907 ULX and it emits the same amout of energy as the Sun does in three-and-the-half years. A very powerful pulsar.

Its distance means that the emission of its light dates from long before humanity roamed planet Earth and after the end of the dinosaurs.

This pulsar is intriguing because it is 1000 times brighter than all previously found pulsars according to models known by astronomers.

Other very luminous pulsars had been detected millions of light-years away from the Milky Way. But NGC 5907 ULX is a very fascinaitng one.
