A 1960s-era Centaur rocket booster is orbiting Earth, scientists confirm. The space relic is believed to be part of the ill-fated Surveyor 2, which crashed onto the Moon. The booster slowly drifted into the Earth’s “Hill Sphere”, which is where Earth’s gravity becomes the dominant force. Because the booster isn’t traveling very fast, it couldn’t escape and Earth’s gravity was able to temporarily capture it.pic.twitter.com/0finmasGSN
