#PrideMonth has us thinking about how rainbows
increase our understanding.
One example: When starlight passes through an exoplanet’s atmosphere, that light can be broken into a spectrum

The planets of our solar system offer a case study in diversity. Sometimes the best way to map out a planet's varied surface is to highlight its features in bright colors

Beautiful! We use the science of rainbows
– officially called spectroscopy, by the way – to tell us a planet’s temperature, pressure profile and atmospheric density. We also study galaxies this way.
So, you can learn a lot from rainbows. https://go.nasa.gov/2Xq8C5v pic.twitter.com/wZnti3c1zG1 odpowiedź 18 podanych dalej 91 polubionych
We see in rainbows not just in #PrideMonth, but year round. Color diversity helps us learn about new environments. Spectral data from Jezero Crater on Mars show sediments changed by water. @NASAPersevere will search these rocks for signs of ancient life. http://go.nasa.gov/3eNaL3V pic.twitter.com/2tiuPMv5iC
