Why not invest in a space station for mars . Wount cost more

If by “space station” you mean something like the ISS orbiting earth, it would cost a lot more. Creating/operating/maintaining spacecraft to keep humans alive is way more complicated and thus much more expensive than robotic spacecraft.

Opportunity isn't lost. Though the rover stopped responding after the global dust storm in June, 2018 its location in Perseverance Valley on the rim of Endeavour Crater is well known.
