In space probably not, but many new technologies & ground systems for rockets & spacecraft need more & more coding so I’d say you have a promising career at NASA if you wanted one!

How important is the masters degree? Any chance we can skip that part?

Not likely- youd become a scientist to do experiments & work on the ISS. Though we see them play a lot on YT, they spend almost every waking moment of every day working with the exception of their allotted time for meals. They are extremely busy & need to be educated for the task
