No doubt it's an old question, but I have to wonder how it keeps functioning when I hear there's so much interstellar radiation. I guess I just want to think people could live out there. Crazy it's still ticking.

I wonder if you can use more than one dish at a time and integrate the signals, to increase the Signal to Noise ratio, even just a little. Provided the dishes have the craft above the horizon for some overlap.
