Telescopes have been around since 1609. Robert Hooke reported seeing a storm in May 1664. But it may have been a different storm because there is a gap of over 100 years between observations.

One is that a type of radiation that strikes Jupiter’s clouds, can chemically alter ammonium hydrosulfide to produce new compounds that could explain different colors.
