"bold declaration" — I don't think that means what you think it does. "The Sun isn't responsible for the current warming" is about as controversial as saying "water is wet".

If global temps were up - 1) We would see less, not more snow in N Hemi. 2) Would be seeing accelerating sea level rise - but we aren't. 3) We would be seeing increased glacier melt. But we're not. 4) We would be seeing higher measured rural temps. Not seeing those either.
