I am an expert in social contagion, and I endorse these examples too. Also peanut allergy, autism (mild form -- see work by Peter Bearman), and gender dysphoria (our second outbreak in a generation). What they all have in common is core of actual cases, with social overlay.

Re: mild dysphoria: Some detransitioned women tell of "coaching" on social networks (e.g. Reddit, Tumblr), whereby teens are encouraged to say their dysphoria has always been severe, in order to get Rx for testosterone. (And it often works/contributes to "contagion in diagnosis")

My 12y old sent me an uncharacteristically hostile email coming out as transgender. I later found it was cut and pasted from a quora account. Two months later she said she’d ‘come out too soon’ and reverted to her own name, tho she is still non binary. We’re just riding the wave.
