  16. This action launched a movement that spread rapidly and soon sit-ins were happening in over 9 states. In July 1960 Woolworth's desegregated its counter. The sit-ins shifted the focus from litigation to confrontation of discriminatory conditions & led to the establishment of SNCC.

  17. in 1960, 4 Black students in Greensboro, NC sat down at a Woolworth's lunch counter & demanded service. They were denied so they sat quietly at the lunch counter until the store closed. The next day, 25 men & 4 women continued the protest.
