The VRA was and is key to the nation’s long march toward enfranchisement for all citizens, except #DC residents who are still fighting for full enfranchisement. #DCStatehood

I take pride in voting because it is a selfless act. I vote for things that don’t always benefit me, but because they benefit my nation state or community. Civic virtue is something no one can take from me, thanks the many that fought for it.

As a young man I saw the VRA as the beginning of equality & the road to stopping the hatred I saw on the nightly news. It was a beginning but it’s unfulfilled & unfortunately under attack. I cling to the hope that one day “all men will be seen as created equal.”

Reminding us of its creation and passage makes me even more determined to vote in elections--not just on the national level, but on state and civic levels too. Also, reminding my friends to VOTE is paramount.

So many small significances that together make history. Human dignity, civil rights, love-of-country. I cry every time I vote. I won't vote by mail. When I am done, putting it in the box, I start crying. I used to hide it -- today I share it. #RightToCry

That’s a cute fringe fight. let’s get serious! Automatic irrevocable voter registration at adulthood. Only publicly funded elections. Use only paper ballots at every level. Statehood for the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, Samoa & the Virgin Islands. We have the numbers!

We must amend the US Constitution establishing an affirmative right to vote upon adulthood that is irrevocable and automatic.
