Thank you -- tough job. My husband work the spill (from Seattle--doing the scientific support) for 90 days. No days off. Brutal hours. He would do it again. He works every day (well, he does get some weekends off!) working oil spills. Trump is a monster.

They get the profits and the public/environment pays the price. They always get the insufficient settlements bargained down to a fraction of a years profits as well. I feel like short of the guillotine this behaviour will never stop.

The USCG was my first choice, but they had their quota that year. It's every bit as dangerous, and in many ways moreso than the Infantry I eventually took, especially in peacetime. You, and all Coasties have my respect.

No, I WAS in the National Guard for a while after I got out of the regular army. Now I'm retired. And I served 4 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan as an 11B. Try to keep up.

I lived in that region after the disaster, but locals still talk about how it destroyed tourism - the main industry- for several years. No one wants to vacation at an oil slick.
