My mistake — I may have conflated that with another’s take. Still, many were not aware (including myself) that the alt-right had appropriated such a commonly used gesture for themselves. I believe it was given w/o ill intent, and an apology was given to those offended regardless

Also the apology was not a real apology. It was the “I’m sorry if you...” style which NEVER counts as an apology
