In a logical universe the value of zcash approaches zero

Zcash will decimate Monero in the long run but that’s my opinion

I was interested in zcash right up until the point I discovered privacy opt-in and nobody was opting (dubious philosophy of zcash coin co and zooko only sealed the deal). You can be excited by snarls, but like vaccines, privacy works with the herd effect or not at all.

They are moving to Z-addr only within 1-2 years

Why Decred? Decreds unique hybrid PoW/PoS system positions Decred not only as a crypto that can adapt and be self-sustainable but a leading contender for the backbone of the world financial system. The ability to come to collective network decisions with ease is highly underated.

Democracy / Plutcoracy / Oligarchy is not what we signed up for The best governance is no governance / network P2P governance
-
Any fantastic privacy technology that gets invented will always get put on Decred. I'm afraid Bitcoin and Zcash won't be able to keep up.
-
lets say Starks become the ultimate privacy tech. U r a billionaire. r u gonna put $1B into stark-copiers or stark-inventors?
-
Whoever has the tech running on the greatest protocol.

Why Zcash?
-
Because snarks are dark magic.
-
Hmm I always thought that features features are less important in opensource software. Can’t snark just be taken by a bigger project?
-
Not when the inventor of snarks/starks is the cofounder. Implementing is one thing. Maintaining and developing is another. If I’m a billionaire putting wealth into a snark-enabled coin, I’d rather the best minds/inventors themselves work at evolving it further.
-
Well that’s what they are doing haha. I don’t know much about snarks. Will have to do more research.

Zcash inflation is too high at the moment. Also the 20% cut to developers complicates things IMO. It's a model to watch, but the coin still needs at least 1 halving to get out of a bear trend. If it survives relevant till then.
-
What do you say about a view that “Inflation is priced in”?
-
It sure is, it always is. Yet, it will need a much higher demand to grow in price. Or a reduced inflation. IMO it will take a reduced inflation and end of the 20% fee to devs for ZEC to start growing in price. I'm personally bearish till a couple of months before halving event.
-
fee is not a problem, that's a tax on miners, not users and it aligns incentives very well. This is much better than ICOing.
-
Anything is better than ICOing in this space.
