Bitcoin will have to survive an era of unprecedented State-led social attacks (sales tax, outright ban, etc.) before peace and prosperity. The State lost its monopoly on money supply, but still has near-monopoly on weapons and propaganda. As a libertarian this is of course what I hope to see. But as an investor I appreciate the complexity of the world enough to not say this with certainty. Powerful elites are just as likely to collude than to fight each other when their collective interest is threatened.

Hence the importance of widespread adoption as fast as possible. The greater the % of the electorate that cares about bitcoin, the harder bans & whatnot will be politically. Adoption == security in that respect.
