7/ More broadly, the argument that "if X can theoretically provide a feature/service, then Y doesn't need to exist and thus will die" is debunked constantly in life (in both cryptocurrency and elsewhere.)

I disagree, respectfully. Bitcoin can have same capabilities of zcash etc, but the trade offs for scalability aren’t worth it right now. Other developments in the works create a privacy in different ways.

BTC will never be as private as ZEC/XMR, not in the next 10 years. Probably not ever.

That is probably true, but they could if they really wanted to. Many BTC developers work with XMR developers and share ideas. 10 years is a long time.

Default privacy in 10 years for BTC might be way too late if it endangers the very use case of store of value/digital money. It's way more urgent than that. Even Andreas has said it should be top priority.
