What makes cryptocurrency suspicious is not the collective hallucination, but that the foundation for its use as a store of value is so flimsy. When superior tech comes around (which always happens), is the value suddenly zero?

That’s a valid point, but it’s not neccessarily tech that gives Bitcoin its value, but rather security, decentralization, and the Lindy effect. May I ask what you mean by superior tech?

Digital currency with superior properties such as better anonymity, less susceptible to Sybil (and other) attacks, faster transactions, less hardware requirements, useful proof-of-work, better Script language or something completely different, which I'm not qualified to guess.
