Payments is a 100B industry Wealth is a 100T industry Do you catch my drift? It’s not the payments capabilities that makes these coins strong. Its the uninflatability, reliability, security, immutability. You cant have a global MoE before something is a global SoV. my humble view
Digital gold is just a metaphor people use. Its mostly appropriate because BTC is entering the SoV stage and no one wants to spend due to gains ahead + volatility. Fixed supply Cryptocurrency evolves like this, in my view: Collectible -> SoV -> MoE -> UoA We are between 1 and 2

As the coinbase reward decreases, fees will exponentially increase as miners will demand to be profitable. There will be no use case for BTC as a MoE unless it's PR or in extremely tumultuous scenarios.
-
People will mostly transact on higher layers (L2, L3) and via centralized solutions. Base chain will only be used for ocassional massive settlement
-
MoE element doesn’t neccessarily need to be on the base layer
-
I think it will
-
Using base layer for coffee payments is like using a Nuclear bomb to kill a mouse

The Digital realm doesn’t need Silver to BTC’s Gold. There is no “weight” or “density” in cyberspace and UX will generally be the same. This is why LTC is totally pointless. Look at what happened to silver after they introduced Gold backed paper-notes (similar to LN...):pic.twitter.com/Jt7ijKPk6L
