Well put. When you put it like this I wonder if the value is in an inescapable trade-off with other values.

Honestly, never invalidating keys is probably on the same level as never changing the monetary policy. A core thing people need to rely on.

That's unfortunate. For the freedom enhancing effects of privacy to impact the most ppl globally, ZCash needs to succeed as a store of value

I don't readily see what tradeoffs could be worth undermining monetary confidence in ZCash. I assume you have some in mind?

I actually haven't thought that deeply about it recently. But I don't think 1% annual expansion would undermine monetary confidence.

How will you ever compete with Bitcoin if you change monetary policy? Don’t you realize that, with these tweets, you’re undermining the “credibility of monetary policy” - the most important characteristic in any digital currency? tbh as an investor, this makes me uneasy

If my opinion in favor of immutable monetary policy is necessary for immutable monetary policy, then it isn't really immutable, is it? That would be me saying "I hereby decree that no decrees have effect."

Yes, but Zcash is still at a relatively centralized phase of its existence and even sophisticated investors perceive you as having a lot of power. After all, perceptions matter. Especially with potential stores of value. It’s entirely intersubjective / perceptions-based.

I'd be pretty fired up if zooko launched a campaign to change the monetary policy. I think a lot of people would be. There's already a bright line.

Fired up as in outraged or Fired up because you’d be excited to see whether he could actually change it or not?
