    I have absolutely no doubt that she was told to dress this way, that it would gain her more sympathy, playing on her desperation to get back home. A very insidious game is being played with the purpose of equating hijab with extremism.

    Asalam Alaykum Noor. I want media representation as much as anyone, but it’s not about Muslim representation in and of itself, but it being good. These kinds of gatherings involve being around Haram, and are playgrounds for the bored, excessively rich and greedy to show off.

    A few things I remember about 9/11 that you probably won't hear about today: 1. Every Mosque I know was immediately dropped by their insurance company right after 9/11, in expectation of severe hate crimes. Took years for them to agree to cover Mosques once again. Capitalism eh?

    Remember: 15 years after 9/11, only 5 years ago, the last US President was spreading falsehoods about Muslims celebrating on 9/11. The racist backlash was not something that only happened in 2001, and not by random Americans. It lives & breathes today.
