I understand where you’re coming from. When I talk about the payoff, it almost sounds like I admit the middle was so tough to get through. It was beyond uncomfortable. But I guess I fell for the “well that’s the point” schtick. It almost sounds Stockholm-y to put it that way. 
A little bit. I'm more disappointed in the pure potential of what they were going for, because I see it and it is very powerful, that's become so muddled in the experience that aims for shock value and a grueling, miserable experience.
I had massive issues with pacing and narrative direction. I really wanted to empathize with Abby, I really wanted the forgiveness arc to be realized, and I knew that major characters were going to have to go and that the experience would be bleak. The story just kept losing me.
I’ve heard that too. The pacing and denied meaningful payoff and the organization spoils it For a lot of people
I can respect that too. I purposely shielded myself from a lot of the pre release controversy to have a pure experience, so I am just now learning about some of the major dev changes. The script seems to have been re written a lot? Maybe my opinion will shift after I learn more!
Maybe. Honestly though, if you felt you had a complete experience playing the game I am in no place to take that away from you. Just wish that I got hit with all of the emotional punches, and I unfortunately didn't get it from this game.
