Steven Crowder's sruff was comedy aswell, the only difference would be that you dislike one person and not the other.

The president also is expected to receive more targeted criticism and mockery because of his ultimate position of power. Attacking the same journalist over and over isn't the same. (2)

That's where you are wrong. It's not because Trump is president of the USA that he should rightfully be a target of harassment. He faced harassment even way before he became president. This is the internet, you're going to get ridiculed no matter what. Journo did shit himself to

So people shouldn't be allowed to criticise presidents?

That's the thing. Everyone should be able to be criticised, ridiculed,... Including that journalist crowder was making jokes about while criticising the articles he wrote. Crowder was being a jerk but the journalist was being a hypocrite about the situation since he does the same

Ridicule is one thing but using homophobic slurs spread attitudes that leads to violence against LGBT folks and that ain't cool.

It wasn't a call to violence don't overexagerate... Were it slurs? Yeah. Does it matter? Not really. All crowder did was make some shitty jokes about one of the reporter's key features which is him being gay. I remember seeing a tweet of the reporter calling for violence though.

And I know it's kind of shallow to say him being gay is a "key feature" but his twitter handle is literally "gaywonk" so it wouldn't be far fetched to say he thinks it's an important part of his being.

He's perfectly allowed to feel his sexuality is an important part of his identity but that doesn't mean it's ok to ridicule him for it. Even if he called himself 'lispy queer' it's not the same making self-depreciating jokes as attacking someone else for their sexuality
